Resources for Advocates

Why advocacy matters.

As higher education leaders work to address high textbook costs, the campus community deserves to fully understand the impact before adopting new sales models like “Inclusive Access.” Advocates play a vital role in asking key questions, raising awareness of the facts, and taking action to support the needs of students and faculty—toward being truly equitable and inclusive for all.

Partner Resources

  • Inclusive Access Contract Library

SPARC’s Inclusive Access Contract Library can be used to compare, contrast and download the full text of legal agreements with major vendors. The spreadsheet breaks down each contract based on key contract terms.

  • Student Advocacy Resources

Students should have a say in how they purchase their textbooks and course materials. The Open Textbook Alliance offers a set of resources including a petition and student government resolution.

  • Free the Textbook Campaign

Free the Textbook is a nationwide initiative that calls on college and university leaders, educators and students to closely examine the fine print of their automatic billing programs and make sure they are inclusive of ALL students.

Get involved.

InclusiveAccess.org was created to promote awareness of the challenges around “Inclusive Access” textbook billing programs. We know that the conversation cannot end there. We invite you to get involved with others who have concerns about this model and want to find ways to be heard on campus.
